Coffee tables can add appeal to any room. Making a coffee table itself will give you a sense of pride. Find a design you want, build it and then have friends and family over to show it.

Step 1
Design the size of a coffee table.

Step 2
Select the type of timber or timber that you want to use for this project.

Step 3
Cutting of tree sizes determined by design. Must have at least one large piece for the top and four legs. More material may be required depending on the design.

Step 4
Dowels and glue the legs and base frame coffee table together. Drill holes for dowels match against each other on the table top legs.

Build the top of the coffee table and secure the table frame or base.Use wood screws to secure the foot in place.

Step 6
Sand on a coffee table 3 times before the final sand. then sand with 80 grit, then 120 grit and finally 220 grit sand paper.

Step 7
Allow to dry completely and finally with 220 grit sand.

Step 8
Apply color or dye, depending on what the design calls for.

Step 9
Cover the stain or paint with a clear top coat to protect finish.
